Every device connect to a computer is a resource. These could be physical or virtual components of a computer. This service provides a user with the ability to remotely access these resources from another computer.
Function 1: Create office shares.
Function 2: Create personal shares.
Function 3: Office shares quota management.
Function 4: Office shares access management.
Function 5: File restore from tape backup.
Faculty, staff, associates, students, and guests are users of this service.
Advantage: Change your “workspace” to accommodate a better working environment.
Disadvantage: Reduces downtime from work. One could virtually work 24 hours, 7 days a week from a remote site, if that site can access the internet. While in a coffee shop, on vacation or sick in bed, one could send an 11th hour “emergency” document to their bosses’ laser printer.
Provides business units the ability to collaborate using a centralized storage area for documents and files that is backed up on a nightly basis.
Business units can request storage and designate who can access the share. A share will be created on the Fredshare server with the requested permissions and an initial quota level.
This service resides on a clustered server environment for high availability and is backed up daily.
The requirement for using this service is to be one or more of the following campus affiliates: Faculty, Staff, Associate, Student, or Guest.
Rates / Cost of Use
There are no fees associated with using these services.

Users will submit a Fredquest ticket using “Computer Files” as the request type, “Shared folder space” as the classification, and “request folder space” for the category.
This service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week less scheduled maintenance downtime.
All requests for assistance are completed using FredQuest: https://fredquest.fredonia.edu/
Users can expect a response within one business day for new requests and changes.
